If you’re one of those parents that read books to your one-year-old child, what books are you reading these days? And if you’re just a fun aunt or uncle, what are your best book recommendations for a one-year-old niece or a nephew?

We asked parents, business owners, and those fun aunts and uncles for their best book recommendations for toddlers.

Here’s what books they had to recommend for a one-year-old.

### ***Goodnight Moon***

As a parent and owner of a professional and [restaurant printing company](https://theprintauthority.com/restaurant-printing-services/), I know just how valuable children’s books are! One of my favorite books for one-year-olds is the classic *Goodnight Moon.* Its beautiful illustrations make it exciting for children that are too young to read and really stimulates their creativity.

### ***The Giving Tree***

*The Giving Tree*, by Shel Silverstein is a classic. The story reminds us to give and give and give, without expecting anything in return. As a parent to a one-year-old, the story serves as a strong reminder of your role as a parent. To give, provide, and to avoid reminding kids of all that you sacrifice in your role. It’s a solid message that strikes a chord with new parents and is a good reminder to us all in a year like 2020.

### **“Put Me In The Story” Books**

I love the “put me in the story” type of book that transposes a photo of a child into illustrations. Not only do the illustrations insert the child into the storyline, but inserting the name of the child into the text helps personalize the story. By showing a one-year-old that they’re in the book, imaginations can be developed and the creative juices can begin to flow at an early age.

### ***Llama Llama*** **Book Series**

As the fun aunt of three little ones, I have found that the *Llama Llama* book series is a big hit. Since there are so many books within the series, I have seen my nieces enjoy, grow, and continue to relate to Llama Llama. The titles range from *Llama Llama Time to Share* to *Llama Llama Night Night* which has truly been great life lessons as well as some great entertainment!

### ***Brown Bear, Brown Bear***

We have a one-year old daughter who loves playing with books. Some of her favorites are *Brown Bear, Brown Bear* by Eric Carle, *Look, Look Again* by Agnese Baruzzi, and the Peekaboo books by DK Publishing.

### ***Science For Babies*** **Series**

My favorite series of books for a one-year-old is the *Science for Babies* series by Chris Ferrie. With entries like [*Quantum Physics for Babies*](https://www.amazon.com/Quantum-Physics-Babies-Baby-University/dp/1492656224), *Rocket Science for Babies*, and *Astrophysics for Babies* it may seem like these books are a huge waste of time. But the subjects are simplified to such an extent (and with colorful and high contrast illustrations) that the child enjoys the book while the adult gets a refresher course at the same time, which will come in handy when they learn to ask “why”.

### ***Chicka Chicka Boom Boom***

My one-year-old grandson and his three-year-old brother are crazy about a book I recently gave

them called *Chicka Chicka Boom Boom*. It tells a story about the letters of the alphabet and how they go to visit a coconut tree. They both love the rhythm and rhymes, and the three-year-old loves recognizing many of the letters and proudly reciting his A-B-Cs at the end of the story.
