Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis

There are a plethora of good, inspiring books about successful women in business, but I personally like Girl, Stop Apologizing. It talks about a shame-free plan for embracing and achieving goals because a businesswoman has to answer many questions before she achieves success.

The writer of the book, Rachel Hollis, helps women unravel lifelong lessons that help women in business or those planning to start a business. Hollis talks about how a woman should define her personality through her own rules, not others’.

I like the book because it is more practical than others. It inspires women to not give up on themselves and to strive for self-improvement. Hollis said that women don’t need to ask for approval and apologize when they don’t line up with traditional roles. You should not be sorry for being ambitious, stop making excuses for not working to fulfill your dreams, and keep track of finances for beginning a business.

Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg

My favorite book about a successful woman in business is Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead. This book is an incredibly inspiring read that delves into the importance of having women in leadership roles and how they can make a difference.

Sandberg shares her own experiences and provides practical advice on how to build a successful career as a woman in business. She also touches on topics such as gender bias, workplace policies, and the importance of mentorship.

Her words are powerful and her message is clear—women have the potential to achieve success in business if they will take risks and pursue their dreams. I highly recommend this book to any woman looking to make a mark in the business world.

How to Fail as a Popstar by Vivek Shraya

What is success, anyway? Sometimes, to feel successful, fail first. For this reason, I’d recommend Vivek Shraya’s How to Fail as a Popstar as the most inspiring chronicle of one successful woman’s journey in what‌ was not her business of choice.

My Life in Full by Indra Nooyi

90% or more of the CEOs who lead Fortune 500 companies are men. When I was promoted to CEO of my company, I sought out leaders I could learn from. Specifically, I looked for women leaders who were motivated by more than an earnings statement and were also at the top of their game.

I found Indra Nooyi of Pepsi. At the time, she was the CEO, and she was remarkable. I’m naming Nooyi’s memoir, My Life in Full, as one of my favorite books about successful women. I learned so much about this hero of mine, including more about her personal life, her professional struggles, and how she continues to look for ways to give back, even in her well-earned retirement.

Her gratitude, generosity, vigor for lifelong learning, and humility are highlighted throughout the book, and it shows that these traits are possible even at the highest levels of business success; she’s an outstanding role model!
